Water Removal Orlando – Drying a Home Efficiently

The process of removing water from houses is generally a step by step procedure. Water often covers the floors, after a water leak, sometimes as much as an inch or two. The general steps include:

  • Remove the water
  • Place furniture on blocks
  • Remove wet items for external drying
  • Mopping the floors removes the remaining water
  • Turn on the air conditioning helps to reduce the humidity
  • Dehumidifiers and air movers are installed to complete the drying process.

SERVPRO Orlando is very familiar with water removal processes and can respond to provide help in any water removal situation. One of our crew-chiefs meets with the customer and together assess the situation. He or she develops a plan for water extraction, dehumidification, and drying.

General Water Removal Process

Our crew chief can assess the damage from a water leak. He or she also can ensure safety concerns from electrical appliances and lights are addressed before work can begin. Next, the water extraction equipment is brought in to remove the liquid water. All contents of the home are sent out for cleaning and drying. Finally, the equipment needed to thoroughly dry the home and return it to its original condition is brought in.

Dehumidification and Drying

After water removal of the liquid water and all water on hard surfaces dried, dehumidifiers and air movers are installed. The air movers move air over the surfaces of the home to absorb moisture, while the dehumidifiers remove the moisture from the air.

Hardwood floors may require

desiccant dehumidifiers to lower the humidity in the wood and avoid swelling and cupping. Cupping occurs when hardwood floors absorb moisture, swell, and crush the boards together, causing deformation at the edges.

Once humidity levels in the home have lowered to normal levels, desiccant dehumidifiers remove the remaining moisture from structural materials that remain wet or contain high levels of humidity.

SERVPRO technicians are highly trained and deploy the best equipment to meet the humidity conditions in your home.
